who are we?
We moved to Florida not long after my husband retired from the Army. Go Army!! Being a military family we are no stranger to moving…alot!!! We always wanted to be on the East Coast when we hung up the boots so here we are. We’re living in paradise and loving every minute of it. We have 2 kids and many animals. We both have been animal lovers our whole lives. The only exception to that rule was my husband and cats. He hated them! He had a cat as a child and they didn’t get along too well and he never forgot it. So after being married for a few years I had to have a cat. So I tried. I hate to admit it but I adopted a cat from the shelter while my husband was deployed. He couldn’t say no, could he??? To my surprise he didn’t. He agreed to try. After he returned home it wasn’t long until the new furball of love I had come to know turned into a mischievous and calculating sabotage machine to my husband. The cat didn’t like him at all! Needless to say, that didn’t work out. I learned my lesson and I probably deserved it. A few years later we decided, together this time, that we would try to get a cat again. Off to the shelters we go. We were exhausted after looking for days and nearly gave up when we found our Ollie. He was a Maine Coon kitten that was at the shelter!! Why, how, I thought the same thing and I have no answers except that myself, husband, and kids were in love and grateful to have found this amazing animal.
Why do we do this?
Ollie lived happily with us for many years. Moving didn’t bother him. He was fine to just ride along and go with the flow. Because of Ollie, we fell in love with the breed and have never looked back. This is the reason we decided to breed Maine Coons. Our love for the breed and doing our part to contribute to the heathy breeding of Maine Coons as well as keeping them true to their heritage of being the largest domestic cat in the world is our motto and what we strive to do. We really do believe that big is beautiful.
what to expect from an olmstead colossal coons kitten?
Like I mentioned earlier, we have always been animal lovers with the largest of those being dogs until our Ollie came along. So your kitten will come to you being socialized with a Great Dane and a Maltese. Yes, the largest and the smallest of canines. What can I say, we love them! Your kitten will also have the best kitten socializer ever which is our daughter. She loves to love on all the kittens and they love it just as much. Your kitten will not be lacking love! You new kitten will come with all age appropriate shots. All Olmstead Colossal Coons will be spayed/neutered on or before 9 months of age. No kitten from Olmstead Colossal Coons will be declawed unless it is deemed medically necessary due to injury or other medical necessity with supporting evidence from your veterinarian and with collaboration from mine.
